Nowadays rugs are attached with fashion. They not only solve a purpose but also play a great role in home decoration. Along with the time rug types have also increased. There are both hand and machine made rugs available in the market. Rugs can be woollen or synthetic depending upon your need. They are available in different colour, pattern and designs. So once you have decided to buy rug following points will guide you through your choice.

    1. Space : Rugs play important role in deciding look and feel of the environment. Light colours and simple patterns will give spacious look to your room. Light colour and simple design can create amazing feeling of expansion and really open up a space. On the other hand if you want to make a space look cosier then dark colour rugs with dense patterns will work best. 2. Size : Size of rug is very important factor to be kept in mind while choosing a rug. Small rug tends to highlight smaller pieces of furniture like a bed or a coffee table. On other side large rugs are best for dining rooms, lounge areas and other bigger spaces.
    3. Focal Point : Centre of attraction should be decided before selecting the rug. Rugs can draw attention to certain areas of the room, compliment existing areas in the room or even become focal point themselves. They are extremely powerful design aids and can be used effectively to attract or distract attention to or from certain areas within a room. Soft colours and tones of rugs will compliment furniture and surrounding décor. Bold designs and colours in rug make them centre of attraction.
    4. Wool or Synthetic : Wool rug in spite of shedding are best choice being more resilient, durable and responds better to dye  as compared to synthetic rug. They are more resistant to water, fire and stain. But they are expensive comparatively.
    5. Cost : Hand made rugs are dearer. New Zealand wool and silk are the most expensive being best quality and soft to touch.

So take your time to choose your rug. A hand knotted rug made from 100% wool will last a lifetime whereas hand tufted acrylic rug will last years and cost considerably less.
